A few notes to add to yesterday's post that I knew I forgot about completely.
During my hiatus from Vox, our coffee grinder died one morning, just as I was about to make a pot of coffee. You can imagine how impressed I was about THAT. And would you believe I can't find a decent one in town??? The Zellers had none that I could see. The kitchen shop in the mall had one unbelievably elaborate one that I wasn't even about to shell out any money for. The thing was almost as big as my Coffee Machine! I didn't even ask price. I finally found one at Canadian tire, that couldn't grind up brittle burnt paper... I have to grind my coffee in small batches to make my morning pot. So I have to buy pre-ground stuff for now until we find another grinder we like. Poop.
Also just this past week, we found a new show to watch. 30 Rock. I had watched part of a couple episodes over the years and always thought it was funny, but for whatever reason, never bothered to watch more. After catching a recent episode we decided we needed to give it a try.
Since the weekend we watched all of Season 1 and half of Season 2. This show is awesome. I forgot how much I like Alec Baldwin. His Schweaty Ball skits on SNL were my favorite... and his "Burns" sketch. I add this show to my recommended list of tv shows. Tina Fey is incredibly talented.
And for the last part of my post title, I am referring to my kids. I swear they're both nuts. Or they are both geniuses who are trying to make me go nuts.
My oldest gets herself so worked up over something that she convinces herself will happen, that never will, that she actually hyperventalates. Yesterday she came inside from playing outside just bawling. After managing to convince her to use words to speak, it turns out our neighbor and landlady was outside working away on her lawn, raking pinecones, and she really really really wanted to go over to help her and say hi. Long before she came inside to ask me, she must have decided that I wasn't going to let her so she came inside in tears. I wasn't going to let her go back outside in that state, because she needs to learn to settle down, so I sent her to her room to relax. I could hear her gasping for air from the other side of the house.
As for my youngest, she also starts crying before she asks for things, like juice or a snack. But she also only wants the thing that we're not doing. If I say were walking to school with the wagon, she cries for the car. So I decided this morning that I would take her to the mall to see the fish tank, and we would take the car... she began crying for the wagon. So I said ok, we will take the wagon and skip the mall, she started running for the car.
A typical conversation with her:
Me: You want some strawberries.
Her: No sterberrys
Me: Ok, you want grapes?
Her (almost crying): I want sterberrys!!!!!
Me: Ok fine!
And Im trying to avoid beer till after my friend's wedding!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
I need coffee.
I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I made any meaningful post about what I've been up to. Things got so busy with work there for a while, that I just kept forgetting about it
Lee's mom was down for a week visiting, before flying down to Palm Springs to meet up with her brother and his wife for a vacation. She should be coming back this weekend or next week sometime.
I had 2 good sized web sites to work on too and I think I finally got them both finished and ready to deploy.
This morning our coffee grinder decided it was just not going to turn on at all. So out of desperation I got the kids dressed and into the car to go to the store. The Zellers didn't have coffee grinders that I could find, and the kitchen store in the mall only had one extremely complicated one with all sorts of buttons... it's just coffee... So I just bought a small can of ground coffee to last for now until I can get to the Canadian Tire to find one there.
I had a very relaxing weekend however. It was easter weekend and my oldest had friday, and today off from school. Lee was coming down with a cold so he worked from home on thursday and they closed the office on friday, and he only went in for a short time on saturday.
It was very quiet. I guess most people were busy with easter things, family or going out of town. That's ok. It made for a nice vacation for us before things pick up again.
So that's about it. Not much exciting. :)
I haven't posted in a while, and frankly was a little brain dead over the weekend. So I thought I would try to play catchup without writing a short novel.
It's currently spring break where I am, for the next 2 weeks. Which means I get to sleep in a whole half hour or more since I don't have to get up to take my oldest to Kindergarten. Woooo.
Actually, they slept in until 845 the past 2 days. WOOOOO!
And it's a good thing that it is spring break because I suddenly found myself extremely busy with work related things the past 2 days. The office I still contract for (but hate) finally got their asses in gear and gave me some things to work on, after wandering around in circles for a while. I had 2 client web pages to update yesterday, as well I was helping a relative with some changes on a site they've been managing.
Oh, did I mention that one of my contacts from the Barbados office got fired?? Hes the one that I have been talking to primarily the past several months with programming tasks. The one I couldn't get the same answer out of 2 days in a row. Well... I guess he did a demo with the manager and owner one day, and they were shocked that what he was having me do didn't match what they had planned on getting me to do! Every day this twit would give me a different direction to go in.... so they fired him right there! bahahahaha.
I should feel bad... but I don't.
Let's see, what else.
I am potty training my youngest. She will be 3 in mid April and just couldn't care less about potty training. She's sat on the can a few times and done it. But she has this idea that once she does it once correctly, then that's it... she doesn't have to do it again.
"There I did it... ok, lets move on."
So I am putting her in underwear all day and trying to get her to sit on the can every half hour if she doesn't think to tell me she has to pee. Yesterday alone I washed 8 pairs of pants. Closer to the end of the day she was starting to understand better. She might still be having issues recognizing the signs she has to pee, so if we can catch it before theres a puddle on the ground, then I don't mind. But she didn't even bother trying to stop a few times... At least there is lino or laminate flooring through most of the house. Easier to clean.
I hope by the end of Spring break, she'll have a better grasp on it.
The joys of parenthood... wooooo!
Today, while Im out getting a few groceries we need, we're getting the supplies we need for a tea party. My mother in law gave my oldest this cute, little, real tea set for Christmas, and we had a tea party when she was visiting last (Cookies and Chocolate Milk). So now she asks to have a tea party every week.
I got my hair cut on the weekend. I'm sure you're all thrilled to hear that. I dont like paying for something I know I can do myself, so I washed my hair and Lee cut it for me. I had to even out the hair in the front a little, but it looks fine. When it's shoulder length, the ends all flip out a little anyway so you can't tell. I just have a hard time forking over 35$ for someone to cut my hair in a straight line.
And it's been melting pretty good out there. But as I said, we have a dirt driveway, which is now a really fun mud bog. Lee doesn't want to take the car out if he doesn't have to because we could potentially get the car STUCK in it. Well, I did beg the snow gods for spring to come... many many times. I should be careful what I ask for.
I had a dream last night I went out for a walk and the whole area had beautiful rolling green hills with flower and little butterflies, and I took all sorts of photos on my phone so that I could prove it to my Vox buddies spring had arrived.
I think I'm obsessing a little much.... ? Nah.
So that's me right now.
More to come once the coffee kicks in.
