So i've been watching Olympics pretty steadily since the impressive opener on friday. This is the most LIVE tv I have watched in 2 years, and now I remember why I stopped watching anything live... the commercials. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the same dozen commercials every single break... and the breaks are so close together. Make me want to pull my hair out.
But I still watch. I like to cheer on the Canadians, the Swedish (grandpa was swedish) and any of the underdogs who do very well. Some guy from Togo just got his country's first ever gold medal! Good for him!
So, thats my night. Lee is out havin some beers with his buddies... one just drove up from ... 6 hours away for a 4 day visit and he goes back tomorrow, so he figured he'd better go out to see him tonight (hes actually left 5mins ago but is gonna stop and get me a 6pack of beer so I can relax and watch olympics after the kids go to bed. )
heh
But canada is not doing so well. I dont think we have a single medal... yet!
Oh Well.
Heres some more lol cats.

Seriously, it's sleeping!!!
Lease favorite part: Sunday at 11:59 pm....
I've been a little absent lately. Haven't been able to come up with anything else to post. I posted my four beers that I liked best:
1: New Zealand
2: Netherlands
3: Canadian Dark beer
4: Hefeweizen
I have been meaning to review the bottles in my kitchen to see if there are more I can write about. Other than that, nothing else to report about work. This week the other partners in the new business have finished their 'time off' and 'vacation' as well and are suppose to be ready to get to it next week. I hope so.... If something doesn't happen soon, I have to start sending out resumes which will mean moving away, and all the work I put on the new business web site would have been for nothing.
Oh well.

This old truck belongs to the landlord... i dont think it runs anymore. The inside of the cab is rather... icky.
Oh, and I found a more recent photo of our beer cupboard.
This beer is not a brand, but just a type of beer, like 'pale ale' or 'honey brown'. The first time I had this was in Vancouver when Lee and I were taking in a hockey game (before the kids). He ordered it, because at the time I might not have ordered a beer I wasn't familiar with. I loved it from the start.
It's a wheat beer, not a hops beer, so the taste is very different. From that moment, if I encountered a wheat beer of any kind, I would order it, but this particular type is still my favorite. There's no 'hoppy' flavor, or 'skunky' flavor, as Heineken has been described as, so there isn't any unpleasant aftertaste. Just a very nice clean, fresh taste...
I found out a local microbrewery in my area started making a Hefeweizen too, but so far the liquor stores are not carrying it. They might just be doing kegs for pubs at the moment. I'm looking forward to when they start releasing bottles because this particular type of beer is hard, at the moment, to find in areas except large city centers.
nom nom nom
The third beer I am reviewing is one of the only dark beers i like.
This is made in one of the towns of BC - Canada, and I am not sure how far it's reach is. Their other beers are good too. We have another bottle up in the kitchen called 'Polar Bear Beer', which i guess is their winter beer. I haven't had it in a while, and now that I am reviewing it, I am starting to crave it again!
Enjoy! :)
Another favorite beer of mine, which I started drinking solely to collect the bottles, is Grolsch.
For people who brew their own beer at home, this is the best bottle out there. It's resealable, and so much easier than attempting to recap a Kokanee bottle, because occasionally the bottle shoots out from under the capper.... mucho fun to clean.
Also, it's a nice beer. Not quite the same taste you get out of Steinlager. And not that great warm, so don't let it linger! I'm trying to think of how to describe the taste... and I can't quite think of it.
To open this beer, position it so the sticker you see in the above image is pointing away from you. Hold the bottle firmly with 2 hands, and place your thumbs on the back of the metal bars that you see sticking out the sides there. Push down hard with your thumbs (Hang on tight to the bottle!!!!) And the bottle should give you a loud POP. and the top should shoot off. But thankfully it's attached to the bottle with that metal apparatus, so it stays on. You can pour out the beer you want and reseal it! You just have to place the top back on and push down on the bar across the front, where it breaks through that label!
These bottles are so handy for around the house. My mom makes flavored oil or vinegar with them. We use them to bottle home-made beer. I had to drink a lot of this to cover 6 cases of home-made beer, so believe me, if I didn't like it, you would have heard of it by now!!
A friend suggested reviewing my favorite beers after posting a blog about what to do with $300 extra.
I really should update those photos of my kitchen, as cupboard #2 is full of different beers now (completely full), and not Kokanee.
Now, I don't pretend to be any expert on beer. I couldn't explain any subtle nuances about any given beer like the wine experts in that movie 'Sideways'. But I know what I like, and I have drank many different brands, and types, over the years. It's not that I drink a lot, but I like to sample.
We've even brewed our own from a kit in our house for several years. We haven't done it in the past year because of the time it takes to bottle etc, and because with 2 little ones running around, it's hard to protect it while it stews.
So, I'll start with an old fav of mine.
Last girls night out I had with some old girlfriends, I was perusing the beer menu, (and it was an extensive one!) and spotted this. They (my girlfriends) realized I knew about many import beers they never tried so they started ordering what I did. So I guess I must know what I'm talking about. Next blog I will describe another import I had that evening that I also love very much.
Next girls night out is tomorrow night. And I will be away overnight, just in case I have too much to drink at the restaurant, crashing at one girlfriend's place. Better to stay there then drive the hour and a half home at 11pm.
So I will get back to you on Sunday. I leave tomorrow afternoon, but I will be busy building the website for our new business venture now that we have a name, logo and web domain! :)

As a hobby, over time we tasted every different kind of beer the stores around here offer. Here is the cupboard on the right side of our kitchen:
