I came across this video on You Tube. Lee and I have been watching all the skits recently... since we dont have regular TV and all the good shows (Dexter, Californication, Rome) are done for now.
My god has it been that long? booo hooo hooo
So I thought I might share a few. I'm sure we all have stories, no matter what the type of workspace we work in. Office, retail, or what-not.
I can write a book on this one guy who worked at the company when I started. He was in the software development department, I started in tech support, and he was the embodiment of socially inept computer geek. He was creepy as all get-out. And since I was the only techie girl in the whole company, I was fair game for him and the geeky-creepy technical writer as well. Wow.
For blogging sakes, we'll call the software developer geek Todd, and the technical writer, Matt.
Some highlights to start off:
- I had to move to the town where this company was. About an hour and a half from where I lived and went to college. I had to 'unpack boxes' for over 3 months, as an excuse not to go hang out with these 2 creepazoids.
- I was talking with one of the other developers one day, who was a nice guy, and mentioned Lee and I were starting to go swim more to exercise. I never saw Todd swing his head around so fast before. His chair whipped around so fast that I could easily see it out of the corner of my eye. I think he was trying to picture me in a bathing suit. Blegh.
- Every year on my birthday, Todd would go on and on and on and on about how nothing special was happening, or ever happened on that day. He thought it was hilarious.
- One sentence: "Working Hard or Hardly Working"... repeat weekly.
- I would get IMs occasionally, because he was afraid of saying them out loud. This is also AFTER lee and I were dating... and living together. Example: "You should wear you hair like that more often. We love to see your lovely hair down"... blegh. I just forward them to Lee. And he used a few choice words to put the fear of god into Todd.
- We had a company houseboat trip (the town is on the edge of a huge lake) in the summer. And Todd was constantly trying to get photos of me in my suit. He got my back as I went off the slide off the back of the boat. And Lee heard Matt say "You should have got her front".
blech
It's New Year's Eve! How are you celebrating tonight?
Staying home. The kids are just too young to take anywhere and no one wants to babysit on a night like tonight.
We're just going to cook up one of the lamb shoulders, and I hope finally crack that bottle of red wine we have, and just watch movies till midnight. The kids can go to sleep when they are ready. They will probably not make it till midnight. :)
Wheeeee... exciting eh?
The suckiest part of this losing weight resolution is trying to make dinners that are not boring as fuck.
It's not like we ate bad before. We incorporated a lot of veggies into our dinners. Some nights we didn't have starch. Just a protein and veggies. But all healthy food is bland. Well, most of it anyway.
I look on AllRecipes.Com for a lot of my recipes.
Some of the 'healthy' recipes look ok... but i don't live in a major center where I can get some of the ingredients. And it's winter, where on earth am I suppose to get raspberries??? I dont have time to go get 4 or 5 different small ingredients every day for some of the recipes. I like 'exotic' foods, but please, some of us have lives and budgets.
Which is also why I stopped watching a few cooking shows on tv, but that's another post.
Ooh! You live in Toronto and have markets full of foods from every european country one street. Goodie for you...
Ok, I think I have that out of my system.
I have to make do with what I have... which will be lots of chicken legs (cheaper than chicken breasts), a whole lamb in small brown wrapped packages (not exactly the meat with the least amount of fat - but so friggen tasty), a good variety of veggies, lots of rice... And several asian sauces I love, which I bet are not low in fat.
I'm not doing any Atkins kind of thing. Nooooo thank-you.
I should get back to work tho. I need to fill in as many hours as I can before month end... The business is picking up, but it got real slow over Christmas week. January should be busy again. We're almost to the point of taking home small wages. So I need to help out where I can, and I'd rather not listen to Lee whine about how I need to get more hours in...
My rant for the week..
It's that time of year again. Time for the weight loss resolutions... time to love more, spend less, laugh more... etc.
As for me, well, I plan on losing weight. LOL
No seriously. I have a wedding to go to in may for my oldest friend, and I am a bridesmaid. They haven't chosen the dresses yet so I have a little time to shrink my dress size. Even when they do order, I am considering ordering a dress a size or 2 too small just to encourage me to drop the last bit of weight.
And now that the gluttony season is over, I can focus on the weight loss. We had a fairly easy going Christmas. No traveling, a little family. I don't mind tho. Lee has been working 6 days a week with the new business so he was glad for the opportunity to relax. And now that the Christmas shopping season is over, he's hoping business will pick up again. We are not a retail store so the last week before Christmas was very very slow. Which was ok. They closed the office last week and just kept checking messages and emails for emergency calls.
They do have a few sales that should go through this week. :) We have bills paid for a few months, now we're just working on making enough to start pulling wages!. Wheee.
I should also get back to the grind today. I have a couple days to get in more hours so I can get paid by the office that I quit from then went back to... pleh
Instead of posting starting weight, which is kind of embarrassing, I will just post my weekly loss. On.... Fridays? that sounds good. Since today is Monday. And I am FINALLY over the cold I have been fighting for 2 weeks. That sucked.
Loss to date: 0 lbs
Happy new year! I think ours will be quiet. Possibly a cousin or 2 stopping by.
Christmas passed with a quiet roar. Not that I mind. I'm still feeling a little sick. Although my cough is much better. We didn't bother getting each other gifts this year. Although we did get a new camera with our AirMiles, and Lee ended up bringing home on the 23rd the Guitar Hero: World Tour. Comes with the drums, guitar, a mic and the game for the Wii. I'm actually quite surprised how much fun this game is. Silly silly fun.
I am about an above average player on the guitar on the medium setting. I can't even imagine anyone being able to play the Hard or Expert settings. Yikes!
We went sledding yesterday on the side hill which has a good slope to it.
We have a ton of snow. And it's been -20ish degrees Celsius for a week and a half. It's suppose to warm up quite a bit tho this week. To about -2 degrees on the weekend.
If you want to see something adorable, here is my oldest at her Christmas pagent the week before Christmas. She has the brown shirt on, with no hat... for whatever reason she didn't want to wear it.
Hope everyone had a good holiday! I'm enjoying sleeping in, and playing guitar hero. lol
Well, It's christmas time. I posted once before about movie trilogies and other series that we re-watch once a year to 18 months. And ever since we got the projector it's been more fun to watch them.
Christmas means, time for a Lord of the Rings re-watch. We have all the extended versions on DVD, which means, unless we watch one in the afternoons, it will take us 6 nights to watch them all.
We also just finished an incredible TV series called Rome.I highly recommend this one. It's an HBO series that only went two seasons, roughly 12 episodes each season. But it was incredible.
It's the story about how the first Cesar came to power in Rome, then the 2nd season is the aftermath of his death and ends with Cleopatra and Mark Anthony. However, the 2 main characters are soldiers, peasants, plebs I think is the word. Their struggles with life, family and duty are in every episode, as well as the games that the noble houses play to gain power. No plot line is insignificant. These 2 main characters unknowingly influence so much of what happens in the leadership of the Roman Empire. They are directly or indirectly affect the outcome of everything.
It was amazing. We watched all of season 2 in two nights. Every time an episode ended, we just HAD to find out what happened next. They were great at leaving little cliffhangers.
Again, i highly recommend this series. A warning: it was HBO, which means swearing, killing, nudity (full female, the occasional male too!) and a lot of other fun stuff that they can only show on HBO or Showtime.
After we finished this series, we ended up watching Gladiator, then A Knights Tale. The guy who plays the black prince Edward in Knight's tale played Marc Anthony in the Rome series. And the guy who plays one of the peasant soldiers... Titus Pullo... apparently plays in the new Punisher movie... which I REALLY want to see now. His character in Rome was awesome. Last night we watched 13th Warrior.
After watching that TV series, we wanted more! I read that they might do a movie to add to the series, since it was dropped after 2 seasons (i dont know why, it was incredible)
So tonight we'll probably start watching LOTR.
:)
Show us your pet(s). If you don't have one, show us one you'd like to have.

This is our cat Rocky, that we still have.
Isis is a big wuss and never went far from home, which could be why she survived so long.
What do you love most about your job?
I can do it in my pyjamas.
Hell, I could do it in my underwear if I wanted to traumatize my children.
Or Nude...
Anyhoo. I need to strike that image from my own brain now.
But no seriously. I actually do enjoy programming... it sounds weird I know. But it does take a certain kind of person to do it. Sure almost everyone could learn how to do it, but to some of us, it's ingrained, and we enjoy it. You'd have to be a little off I think. hahahaha
Which could be why the computer programmer stereotype is not entirely unbelievable. I have worked with a couple that just made me cringe. But us computer geeks come in a wide range of types. I've known some true geeks, socially inept through and through... and i've known good looking guys who played sports on the side, and loved to go out to the bar, and were easy to talk to.
Unfortunately, I have met very few women who could truly do this job. I think the socially-inept-geeks would be a big turn off to most... scare them away. heheheh
Also could be why I dont make girlfriends that easy. I'm too weird for them. Oh well.
:)
Share the last song you listened to.
I just found this band. I love this song.
And this show actually... :) so good find on the YouTubes!
