As some here may already know, tonight the new Twilight crap... er movie... premiered. I still cannot get past how unbelievably lame the first movie was. I still cringe.
I will admit to watching the promos, and there were parts that looked interesting. But I will bet anyone here 100$ that the most exciting parts, were in the commercial. Which means that those were the only exciting parts.
I have a few huge Twilight loving friends. And I feel bad, because I would rather have my cat scratch my eyes out than watch any more of that series. I've also been told the books were better. Well, even if they are better, it's still about a high school aged girl who thinks that vampires are friendly loving, perpetual high school taking, douche-bags who never wash their hair properly.
I just cannot bring myself to even attempt to watch this movie, and I am so glad that no one asked me to go.
Well, that might also have had something to do with some recent facebook statuses.
The first was "Sunkist is going to lock her doors, close the shades, and hide until the 'sparkly' vampires go away!".
That got a few laughs and responses.
Lee responded by saying that it was reason #78 why he loved me so much, he doesn't have to watch chick flicks.
The next post I made was a photo, the one with the count of sesame street with the caption: "Sparkle? Hell No". Another big hit.
The last photo I posted was David Bowe.
I thought it would be tame enough, without insulting anyone. I hope my friend who posted statuses ALL week about how excited she was about the movie release, doesn't hate me too much. I'm serious. Every day it was: 5 more sleeps! 4 more sleeps! 3 more sleeps!
Well, you get the idea.
I still want to smash my forehead into the table.
I'm all for the occasional fluff movie. I've enjoyed the odd chick flick, but I got a headache during the first Twilight movie from constantly smacking my head against the back of my chair while rolling my eyes.
:)
I was going to title this one Mrs Fix-It, but I made such a huge dumb ass mistake, that I was almost too embarrassed to write about it.
We've been making minor repairs to our stuff lately. I mentioned the coupler in the washing machin going, that Lee figured out and fixed. A month before that the toilet was taking forever to refill the tank, Lee took apart the contraption in the back tank, cleaned them and reassembled it and it's now filling great. We've done other things too. I've soldered together the wires inside the Guitar Hero drum kit a few times now. So when the light bulb in one of our headlights went out, we decided to get a replacement and do it ourselves rather than take it to Toyota and have them do it.
Its not hard to make these minor repairs to things, and saves money in the long run!
So I went down, and got the bulb from the Canadian Tire here, got home, tried to replace it, It wouldn't fit into the little plug. So I went back down, got the one that matched the # on the bulb, and replaced it. Then realized when I went to test the lights that I replaced a perfectly good high beam bulb. I was all set to go to a different store to get the right one because there was no way I was going back into the store a 3rd time, but Lee's cousin that we hang out a lot with happened to be there, and he went in and got me the right bulb and we replaced the right one.
He also happened to pick up a brand that was only 11$, as opposed to the 19$ one the Canadian Tire guy recommended.
So the lights are fixed, and I feel like a moron.
So much for breaking the stereotype that women know nothing about cars (Which is sorta true for me - I know how to fill all the fluids and replace a battery and light bulb now)
Now my mood is sucky the rest of today.
I have been so negligent in posting. I know I know. I suck.
I try. Some days I wonder if I really need to share my day to day stuff. Other days I think of cute things to write down. Then completely forget as the coffee wears off. Pleh.
Our washer broke. Finally, after about 9years, the thing just finally gave. Lee and I bought it when we first moved in together. Not an expense we needed right now. We're making enough to cover a month's of bills, but I still have a tiny bit of taxes to pay, and cards to pay down. So, determined not to have to spend more money, Lee spent some time with google. Apparently it's a common problem with Kenmore washers as they get older. This little coupler broke, which makes the thing in the center of the washer agitate, and because it broke, it wasn't turning, and making an AWFUL sound. So I drove around town monday morning and found a little used appliance store / repair shop and showed the old fella there the part. He knew what it was immediately (Note: Canadian Tire, Rona and Sears did NOT know what it was or where to get it). Cost us 25$ for the part, but Lee got the thing running again after work!!! Better than 1000$ for a new washer/dryer combo. (If we're gonna get a new washer, might as well get the new dryer, lol)
But then tonight I noticed that we have a headlight out. Sigh... Well, the car needs a servicing anyway. The thing will be paid off in February of 2010 too! Pretty soon we will have no more car payments. YAY!
Business is great. Lee and his partner are very very busy. We're having several web sites go pretty soon here. I spent most of today polishing one. And we have a few more nibbles. I have a couple more that we are waiting on feedback, and content. I can only make up so much crap to type in there.
I'm still mad at the douche who whined about my coding.
I made an awesome pumpkin pie tonight... from pumpkin! Not a can of brown goop. Actually quite easy to do. Even the dough. If you have a pasta roller, it makes pastry dough so much easier. Even the kids like it!
We might... repeat... might... be moving next year. Lee's business partner, and long time friend, might be moving into his father in laws old house, because the father in law is building a new house across the street from that one. Since his partner owns his house, he doesn't want to have to sell, or attempt to sell, so we may rent it from him. It will offer us more space, and we might turn the basement into our home office, setting it up to make some remote work easier. Not sure when this will happen. Probably next year. Will keep you posted.
Ok, all for now. Try to post before too long.
I leave you with a lol cat , or 2.
It's over! Whew! Only 1 and 3/4 months to relax until Christmas :D
The ladybug costume is one I made for my oldest for her first halloween. There is a headband with those little boppers on it, but the paint was still drying on them.
It was gloriously warm all day too so I didn't have to worry about bundling them up very much. The ladybug outfit is from a boys size 10 sweater anyway, and my oldest is wearing a grey sweater of mine that is too small.
So far I have managed to avoid the 1/2 off candy aisle at the stores too!
hahaha
And the lol cat to describe today:
Took me 3 hours to finish the thing I was to do. It was suppose to be pretty basic, and it was. I thought I did alright. He then seemed happy, and asked for help with a 2nd project, doing the same thing, only it would be simpler. So I did. I finished in 3 hours, and had to finish up a section he just didn't get to yet. So I basically completed this one part for him.
Well, this morning he's all unimpressed, saying my work is unorganized, hard to read, and basically doesn't work. He has to redo it all. I followed his style of coding, and naming conventions so it would merge with his stuff better!!!!!!
But! I chose to not jump to conclusions and asked if SectionA wasn't working... Nope that was fine. (using sections instead of really what I did for privacy sake)
I asked if SectionB wasn't working, because I took an example of his to model how I did the work.... Nope that was fine too.
Well that was 80% of the stuff I did!!!
So I asked specifically what I did wrong, so I could figure out how to do it right another time.... Well! He's too busy to tell me what it was because he has to fix it all.
Translation: Im a jerk and I'm trying to weasel out of paying the bill.
I took a look at the changes that he made afterward, to my stuff. I can see now what he added, that might have been a good idea for me to add, but he didn't give me much in direction. I was suppose to finish up this little module for him, add this other function there. I didn't realize he wanted me to change some naming conventions in one part, or add more info to another.
He could have just asked: "Oh BTW, can you add the client info to this part as well... can you name these parts this way" and I would have done it. It often takes a 2nd pair of eyes to spot something the first pair might overlook without realizing.
Instead he chose to take the douchey route.
So I'm in a super bad mood today now.
Will post Halloween and kid photos tomorrow or Saturday tho!!!
I was browsing the I Can Has Cheezeburger site yesterday, looking for more lol cats, and decided to try some of it's affiliate sites. I stumbled on the Roflrazzi. It's shots of celebreties with funny captions. Holy crap. I laughed pretty hard at some of them. I wound up reading 189 pages of photos (6 per page) and downloaded the best.
There were many themes: Star Trek, Star Wars, Jonas Brothers, Twilight.
I can't remember if I mentioned my hatred for Twilight yet. I went with a bunch of female relatives on Lee's side. I figured it couldn't be that bad. I was wrong. The pre-teen angsty dialog was making my skin crawl. The plot line wanted to make me smash my forehead into the chair in front of me in an attempt to knock myself out so I didn't have to watch more of it.
I think teens have moved on from a White Knight, or Dashing Prince from swooping in and rescuing them from their mundane life and whisking them away to their fantasy... to a vampire who look like he lost a fight with a container of glitter, and hasn't bathed in so long his hair sticks straight up on it's own.
Sigh. <-- over emphasized sigh
For anyone who might not have enjoyed it all that much. Some lol-Twilights for your amusement:
And My Personal Favorites
I've developed a new fondness for naan. Well it's not completely new. We found a naan bread recipe last year, that calls for garlic of course, and used it to make pizza doughs. We would make up the dough, and roll them into balls that would wind up making a pizza about 8inches or so across, and froze them. When we wanted pizza I just had to remember to take them out in the afternoon and let them thaw. Then roll them out. This way Lee and I could make our own customized pizza, and I can make a simple one for the kids.
We were at friends a while back and we had some hamburgers. She had run out of buns accidentally but found some flatbread style buns she had bought at the store in her freezer. They made the best hamburger buns ever! They are much stronger than regular buns, as they don't fall apart after soaking in the condiments. You don't really need to toast them. And they're quite tasty!
The whole thing tasted new and different.
So now I'm using that naan recipe above to make flat bread once a week or so. Turns out my oldest loves it.
She doesn't like sandwiches really, as she prefers her ingredients to be separate and not touch each other. (She will eat peanut butter and grill cheese - but you can't take peanuts to school anymore). So I usually slice up a half of a wrap and put that, ham slices, and cheese slices into a container for her lunch. She can then roll up little sandwiches on her own.
But she likes the naan bread, so now I can cut them into little wedges and put them in too, then she makes her own little sandwiches. (I actually don't add garlic for her - will have to make 2 batches next week, one for us, one for them)
So this works out great. I can use them for hamburgers, or my own breakfast sandwiches, mini pizzas and kids lunches! Woooo

I work on the computer, and we opened our own computer business, which is doing very very well considering we're still in our first year. So if this keeps going, and I can go into the office more to help, then hopefully we can pay off our debt and own a house... that is the extend of my dream right now. A house, on a large property with lots of trees for privacy. And possibly a hunk of land up north where it's sparsely populated so that we can go up for summer vacations, or Lee can go hunt, or what have you.
:D
My youngest has turned a corner. She still argues and says No a lot, but for whatever reason (maybe shes no longer constipated?) she has been in a much better mood the past 2 days.
I took her to preschool and she didn't really argue, took her jacket off and ran in to play with toys yelling "Come on Mommy". I talked to the ladies there a minute, and she was still playing with the toy cars, not even looking for me, so I snuck out.
It's put me in a MUCH better mood today.
I feel energized, proactive, and I might even clean and do laundry today.
I turned on the furnace for the first time this morning. It's getting cold overnight, but still very warm during the day.
I turned it on so I could clean out the system. You know that burnt dusty smell every fall when you first turn it on. All the windows are open and the fans are on, and I'm shivering away in the office.
But at least it'll be ready for when we do want to use it and wont stink up the house.
I'm debating between canning some of the garden veggies, and blending them up with garlic and spices and freezing them in ice cube trays.
I do that with chicken broth. Cause then you can retrieve a single cube (or two) and toss them into recipes or just sit them in a metal bowl and put them in a little hot water in the sink to melt them. It helps them to keep longer too.
I have a baggie of frozen beet mush cubes in the freezer. I toss a couple cubes into spaghetti sauce and soups. Lots of vitamins that way. You can also toss them into mashed potatoes and make them a bright pink!! heh.
Anyway, off to attempt to be domestic today.
No matter what kind of day I am having, there is an LOL cat to describe it perfectly!!!
Which may be why I love them so much. I know it's silly, maybe childish. But the little goofy photos with bad spelling make my day sometimes!
Today it's 'Meh' cat.
The youngest is still in her NO phase. She handled preschool much better today. She still cried when I tried to go but the teachers said that she was fine after a few minutes then did great the rest of the time. She didn't want to leave when I went to get her, and even behaved when we took coffee to Lee's office, and hit the dollar store for ice cube trays.
When we got home... well, nothing was going to make her happy. She wanted to play this game on the Treehouse TV Web site. (Lots of great games for young kids) So i put it on, then she didn't want to play it, but wanted to watch the cartoon that it's based on, which I don't have... and well, it went downhill from there.
She finally passed out on the couch.
I think I know why this one is having issues with preschool. It's because I didn't take her out as much, to a play group or other activities as I did my oldest. Oh well.
I do remember my oldest going through a phase where nothing was how she wanted. She refused to eat dinner for weeks and I finally have to give her something afraid she will get sick from not eating (usually fruit to make sure she got vitamins). Most of the time, spending 3 days in her room was enough to get her on track again. She still has bouts of craziness.
For instance, if she gets some sort of special treat, not necessarily food, but some fun event that maybe she never did before, then she refuses to listen to me for days. If I decide that the kids have been good, and decide to get some fast food for lunch (which we dont do often), then she thinks she can have ANY food she wants any time she wants, and I don't get to refuse her.
Which usually makes me regret doing anything nice for her some days, because she turns into Super-Brat afterwards.
Once I got her a couple timbits in the morning, then we went grocery shopping, and she couldn't understand why she couldn't have EVERY junk item she saw. Usually she asks, then when I say 'No', she is fine and moves on. But because she got her timbit, then anything goes.
"This is why Mommy drinks."
Such is the life of a parent however.
The oldest is MUCH better. She is loving grade 1, and listens much more now.
1 Down, 1 To go.
:)
Vent day is over.
