I know it's been almost a month since my last post, and I was posting rather erratically before that. Don't take it personally! But I thought I should make a quick post to explain.
I go through phases like this often on message boards, or sites like this. I will post a lot, think of lots of witty (sometimes non-witty) things to say, then peter off a little... then pretty much stop all together. Usually after a few more months I get the urge to post again and I come back.
The same thing has happened with every board I have been on. It's also why I have a hard time sticking to a diet plan or an exercise program. Ha ha!
I do miss my LOL cats, and hope to get the urge to come back soon. I am actually up to my earlobes in web sites that I am working on, and have started looking for part time day care for the girls so that I can start going into the office more! This fall the youngest will be in Preschool, and the oldest in Grade1, so I will have more time on my hands for work then. To start they are going to be watched by my husband's cousin's wife. They have a 1 year old boy too and they both love to play with him, so this will be a good start
Talk to you all soon I hope!
I'll have to explain the title another day. It's an inside joke with me and Lee.
Whew. The weekend is over, the wedding is over. In a way its a shame. It turned out great. The weather cooperated for pictures. Her dress was gorgeous!!! But I am so glad its all over.
I might have mentioned some of the things we had to do this weekend. Well. I did get the manicure and pedicure after all. And it felt weird to have someone inches from my foot, cleaning and scrubbing away the dead skin. But it also felt good to have them soak and my feet massaged. Same with my hands. The color I picked is a color that complimented the dress, and would be a color I would normally wear. If I did wear it. My toes match my fingers too! hehehe. Although, all weekend I could feel the polish on my fingernails. Even now they feel... thicker... and heavier. I guess it's because I don't wear polish... at all.
Sunday morning was hair. And I had my hair all done up before at least twice, so it wasn't a big deal. My oldest did well over the course of the day. She got bored, but was looking forward to wearing her 'princess' dress and going to the 'party'. After hair was makeup... and I swear they've invented more products in the years since I even bothered with it.
- I washed my face with one product, then applied 2 different ones for sun block and some sort of moisterizer / primer.
- I swear she put on 6 different items and colors on my eyes, not including mascara... it started to hurt after a while.
- Then there were 4 products for foundation: a primer, the color, and a bronzer around the edges to make my face more oval, and a lightener on the sides of my nose and under my eyes
- Then I think 3 on my lips, including another primer, and a very goopy lip gloss something or other that my hair kept sticking to
That was more makeup in one day than I wear in a year total!!!
The Mary Kay lady was asking me what my routine was, and what I wear and how often. I said "well, whenever we get a babysitter, so 3 times a year maybe"
It felt so good to scrub it all of. I could feel all that foundation.
I may not have enjoyed all those things that are customary with weddings, but for my friend who I have known since Grade 2 and we've been best friends forever... I would never have refused any of it.
:)
I've pretty much completely forgotten about Vox for like 2 weeks.
I've been so insanely busy, and I keep forgetting to do important things like finish my taxes, that I just kept glossing over when it came to Vox.
The wedding is this weekend. We leave tomorrow afternoon to drive down, and I took the car in today to the shop for a quick tune up before hitting the high mountain highways.
I still have lots of stuff left to do, but I did get my dress back all fixed up. I still have to find the right shoes, and a stick on bra cause the back of the dress is real low.
Once we get to Vancouver I have to balance the stuff my friend planned for us and visiting my parents... Theres a rehearsal i need to take my oldest too cause she's going to be a flower girl, and a manicure/pedicure session on Saturday morning, which I dont really want to go to. I've never had either, and not fond of the thought of someone fixing up my toe nails. Not like they are awful, but it seems a little like invading my personal space. Wierd huh?
Friday night there is the batchlorette party, which I think will be fairly tame. we might make it down in time for me to meet them for dinner and afterwards we're going to a comedy club!
I have 2 fairly complicated web sites on the go, and a new one about to start up.
And Im getting some work from the office I hate working for, and every time I see an email from them with some ridiculous bugs to check out at the last minute cause no one is organized there, I die a little inside.
But one good thing about the past few weeks has been Mothers Day weekend. It was wonderfully relaxing. The weather was very warm and clear (unlike the rain of the past few days). We spent most of the weekend in the garden. We built our contraptions for doing Upside-Down-Tomatoes this year. And then on mothers day went on a hike to a local waterfall. There are several around here. nice thing about living in the Rocky Mountains :)
A few notes to add to yesterday's post that I knew I forgot about completely.
During my hiatus from Vox, our coffee grinder died one morning, just as I was about to make a pot of coffee. You can imagine how impressed I was about THAT. And would you believe I can't find a decent one in town??? The Zellers had none that I could see. The kitchen shop in the mall had one unbelievably elaborate one that I wasn't even about to shell out any money for. The thing was almost as big as my Coffee Machine! I didn't even ask price. I finally found one at Canadian tire, that couldn't grind up brittle burnt paper... I have to grind my coffee in small batches to make my morning pot. So I have to buy pre-ground stuff for now until we find another grinder we like. Poop.
Also just this past week, we found a new show to watch. 30 Rock. I had watched part of a couple episodes over the years and always thought it was funny, but for whatever reason, never bothered to watch more. After catching a recent episode we decided we needed to give it a try.
Since the weekend we watched all of Season 1 and half of Season 2. This show is awesome. I forgot how much I like Alec Baldwin. His Schweaty Ball skits on SNL were my favorite... and his "Burns" sketch. I add this show to my recommended list of tv shows. Tina Fey is incredibly talented.
And for the last part of my post title, I am referring to my kids. I swear they're both nuts. Or they are both geniuses who are trying to make me go nuts.
My oldest gets herself so worked up over something that she convinces herself will happen, that never will, that she actually hyperventalates. Yesterday she came inside from playing outside just bawling. After managing to convince her to use words to speak, it turns out our neighbor and landlady was outside working away on her lawn, raking pinecones, and she really really really wanted to go over to help her and say hi. Long before she came inside to ask me, she must have decided that I wasn't going to let her so she came inside in tears. I wasn't going to let her go back outside in that state, because she needs to learn to settle down, so I sent her to her room to relax. I could hear her gasping for air from the other side of the house.
As for my youngest, she also starts crying before she asks for things, like juice or a snack. But she also only wants the thing that we're not doing. If I say were walking to school with the wagon, she cries for the car. So I decided this morning that I would take her to the mall to see the fish tank, and we would take the car... she began crying for the wagon. So I said ok, we will take the wagon and skip the mall, she started running for the car.
A typical conversation with her:
Me: You want some strawberries.
Her: No sterberrys
Me: Ok, you want grapes?
Her (almost crying): I want sterberrys!!!!!
Me: Ok fine!
And Im trying to avoid beer till after my friend's wedding!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
I need coffee.
I have barely posted in like 3 weeks I know!! I'm trying to remember. Work was crazy busy for a while and I finally have a lull here before it goes bonkers again. I have been on here, reading others posts, and commenting now and then. So i'm not completely out of touch. I thought I would update everyone on what's going on here, in bullet form... hopefully I don't yammer on too much.
- Spring break here is 2 weeks, which meant I got to sleep in for 2 weeks. But then the web page work through the business took off and I was typing like a madwoman for the first week of it.
- A week and a half after all the kids were back in school after spring break, they got a 4 day weekend for Easter. My oldest's internal schedule was just all thrown off I think, but she's back to normal now.
- My youngest turned 3 last monday on 420 (Im sure some will find that amusing) We just had a small party with just us. I didn't have the energy to do more. And she didn't really notice anyway. She loved her gifts, and got apple cake with chocolate glaze and gummi bears, so she didn't care either!
- I think I hammered out about 5 web pages the past month. Most are real simple, 6 to 12 pages with a little back end work so they could add content. Nothing huge.
- We have 2 or 3 coming up that could be real huge tho. Including adding shopping carts!
- Weather here is off again on again warm, mixed with rainy days.
- I had to mow the lawn on the weekend before it got too high, and I think I nearly croaked.
- Lee is a bit of a hypocondriac. My youngest has allergies... hay fever I think because Lee has it too. And he's getting me to check her for fever in case she has swine flu.... sigh...
- He also has on a couple occasions, thought he had flesh eating disease... because he found a red spot...
- It's infuriating.
- Im just making sure I get the kids to wash their hands more. Even though we are not near any areas that have confi rmed cases, it doesn't hurt.
- I got my bridesmaid dress in the mail. I haven't tried it on to see if it needs altering. Frankly Im afraid to find out its small... but I think Ive done well.
- I cut out beer the past month... excuse me while I go cry for a bit.
- Hopefully that helps cut some calories.
- The dress is more of a cinnamon color since the original green one wasn't available. My friend called back to let me know and help me pick out more colors and order them from most preferred to least preferred, just in case
- This image is fairly close.
- I got the hotel booked for the wedding, and I am hoping to make it down in time for the stagette. I think if we leave by 2pm I'm good.
- Other than that, Im just waiting for good planting weather to get the garden in.
- This year we're doing: acorn squash (soooo much better than storebought), tomatoes (cherry and roma), peppers (all colors), onions (green and purple), and several herbs
- We're going to do Upside Down Tomatos actually.
- It's a neat planting process.
So that is me. Im sure I'll think of more tomorrow that I totally forgot.
I'm just hungry at the moment.
:)
If you were to open up a business of your own, what would it be?

hmmm, tough question... lemme think.
;)
I had this odd dream last night, that I can mostly remember. I have this project today that I need to compile and make installs for so that the company I work for can test out some bug fixes. I said I could do it before 2pm, which is when our Australia office comes online. I dreamt that it was noon and I had forgotten all about it and there wasn't enough time for me to get everything done and I was really really worried.
Anyhoo.
For some reason my alarm didn't go off this morning. I thought I had set it. So the kids came into my room at a little after 8am. And I usually get up a little after 7am. Well. We had to get dressed, hair brushed and some food in the kids within a 20 minute span so we could get in the car and I could get my oldest to school.
And when my oldest wakes up, from overnight sleep or a nap.. shes pretty much useless for 20 minutes. She isn't a morning person and she'll start crying if she has to do anything other than sit and watch a cartoon while she eats. I can't get her to speak words half the time. So you can imagine how fun that was this morning.
So now I am on edge thinking I have forgotten something else important!
Who was your best friend in grade school? Where is he/she now?
Her name is Sherie, and it's her wedding that I am going to next month!
Even though we live about 6 hrs apart now (in college she moved to the east coast, but moved back after grad), we still keep in touch as much as we can.
on Sorry for the absenteeism.
